Robert E. Hood

Robert. E. Hood was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1975. He attended The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated with a degree in political science with a focus on criminal justice. Robert graduated from The Citadel with 434 merits, receiving the most outstanding disciplinary record in his class. While at The Citadel, Robert received gold stars, was on the Dean’s List, the Commandant’s List, the President’s List, and the Regimental Drum Major.

After graduating from The Citadel, Robert attended the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Bar and The Order of Barristers. While in law school, Robert worked as a lawclerk for the 5th Solicitor’s Office, which serves Richland and Kershaw counties. While serving as a lawclerk, he worked on three death penalty trials and numerous profile murder cases.

After graduating from law school, Robert worked as the Assistant Solicitor for the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Within sixty days of being sworn in as an attorney, Robert tried a murder case involving two defendants.

In 2003, Robert left the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office to work for the Attorney General’s office as an Assistant Attorney General for the State Grand Jury. Robert prosecuted the largest financial criminal case in South Carolina at that time as well as numerous large scale multi-county drug trafficking cases.

Robert is a member of the South Carolina Bar and admitted to practice in the following courts:

  • U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina
  • Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals
  • All South Carolina State Courts

Robert currently defends all types of criminal cases in State and Federal courts in South Carolina, whether misdemeanors or felonies, including, but not limited to: fraud, including securities fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud; drug trafficking and drug possession; DUI/DWI, violent crimes, white collar crimes, sex crimes, traffic violations, and procedural matters such as appeals, post conviction relief, expungements, and pardons.
